Grade 304: The All-Star

Think of 304 as the gold standard. With 18% chromium and 8% nickel, this austenitic steel is tough, rust-resistant, and versatile. It’s got a stellar corrosion resistance—perfect for humid climates like Kenya’s coast or heavy-use settings like kitchens. We use it in everything from cookstoves to firepits because it holds up under heat (up to 870°C) and won’t flake or tarnish. Polished or brushed, it looks sharp too. The catch? It’s pricier, but you’re paying for quality that lasts.

Grade 201: The Budget Champ

Grade 201 steps in as the wallet-friendly option. With less nickel (around 4–6%) and added manganese, it’s still corrosion-resistant but not as tough as 304 in salty or acidic conditions. It shines in dry, indoor uses—like decorative panels or machinery casings—where cost matters more than extreme durability. It’s slightly less heat-resistant (up to 760°C) and can show wear faster, but for the right job, it’s a practical pick.

At Bremar Ltd, we understand the role of energy in our daily lives and our focus is to provide solutions on how this energy can be harnessed more efficiently for different requirements and capacities. Our main focus is on the energy requirements for food preparation i.e. cookstoves and ovens, heating at various capacities and densities i.e. boilers, Vats and pasteurizers and a variety of custom designs for customized requirements.

Our equipment at Bremar Limited is designed to adopt best principles while harnessing heat energy. The products we manufacture are primarily designed to work with biomass fuel even though the design is versatile and can be converted to be used with other sources such as LPG, Biogas or steam.

According to statistics taken in the recent past, the proportion of households consuming biomass has risen to 83% from 73% in 1980. As of 2007, Biomass Energy Resources in Kenya, i.e. firewood, charcoal and agricultural wastes contributed approx. up to 70% of Kenya’s final energy demand and provided for almost 90% of rural household energy needs ( Energypedia, 2002 )

Firewood is a renewable resource which can be depleted rapidly if the fuel is not used sparingly. Biomass takes time to regenerate and one of the ways we can buy time to allow for regeneration is by ensuring the fuel is used efficiently to eliminate waste. The high efficiency cook stoves and heaters we manufacture provide a solution that saves up to 50% of the fuel requirements if used in the recommended manner. Tests have shown out products have achieved tier 4 and tier 5 ratings where efficiency is >47% and >49% respectively.

Our cookstoves are in use in hundreds of institutions in locations across east Africa; comprising Hotels, schools, universities, Ranches, NGOs and processing plants. The feedback from the customers is that the stoves conserve and retain heat hence reducing consumption of firewood which in turn reduces emissions and thus improves the air quality of the users’ cooking environment.

At Bremar ltd we also believe in quality work and impeccable finishings. We have invested in various machinery which have considerably improved the quality of our products. These processing machines run entirely on our 30kva Hybrid Solar Plant. We ensure our products leave the faintest carbon print in their manufacture.

We are soon launching a line of energy saving products for household and home outdoor use which will enable alternative fuels to make way into households and supplement the energy needs sustainably.
